European Ecolabel
A sustainable approach that is part of our way of life
Since 2010, La Petite Couronne has been committed to an environmental approach recognized by the European Ecolabel . This commitment stems from a simple conviction: everyone can contribute, on their own scale, to preserving the environment around us. We live in the countryside, in the heart of a natural area that we want to respect and pass on. Our philosophy can be summed up in a few words:
Start with yourself.
Taking the environment into account should not be a constraint. It is above all a different way of working, of managing your establishment and of making more responsible choices on a daily basis.
An approach recognized at the European level
The European Ecolabel is an official certification recognized throughout Europe. This recognition is important to us because it provides our visitors with a clear and reliable benchmark, regardless of their country of origin. But the label is not an end in itself.
It supports an approach that has been in place for over fifteen years, based on concrete actions and a constant desire for improvement. At La Petite Couronne, our guests don't need to see all the actions implemented. They can simply enjoy a place where environmental choices are a natural part of the experience.
Concrete choices on a daily basis
Conserve energy
Controlling our energy consumption is an essential element of our approach.
We have installed solar panels on the roof of our ecolodge as well as on our parking shelters in order to produce electricity and hot water.
Our heating and air conditioning system operates entirely using heat pumps, allowing us to combine comfort for our guests with better energy management.
All of our indoor and outdoor lighting also uses LED bulbs in order to limit our electricity consumption.
Preserving water, a precious resource
Water is an essential resource, particularly in a natural environment like that of Chalosse. We have implemented various measures to limit our consumption:
- sanitary facilities with devices to reduce water usage;
- rainwater harvesting;
- the use of this water for watering the garden;
- outdoor spaces designed to promote natural water infiltration, with fewer impermeable surfaces.
These choices allow us to preserve resources while respecting the natural functioning of our environment.
Reduce and better manage our waste
Every day we strive to limit our impact by adopting simple actions:
- waste sorting offered to our guests;
- composting of organic waste;
- reduction of packaging, particularly in the context of breakfast;
- choosing more responsible solutions where possible.
The goal is not perfection, but a coherent and sustainable approach over time.
Respect our natural environment
Our commitment also extends to the way we maintain our premises.
We prefer:
- environmentally friendly cleaning products;
- durable materials when we carry out renovations;
- garden maintenance without pesticides.
The garden at La Petite Couronne is an integral part of the experience offered to our guests. Preserving its biodiversity also means preserving the unique atmosphere of the place.
Promote local and seasonal products
Our environmental approach is also reflected in the way we offer breakfast.
We prefer:
- local products;
- products from organic farming when possible;
- seasonal products.
We want to introduce our guests to the flavors of our region while promoting shorter supply chains.
Promoting more responsible mobility
Because the journey doesn't just begin upon arrival, we also encourage more responsible travel solutions. The Petite Couronne region notably has a charging station for electric vehicles.
We are also happy to advise our guests on opportunities to explore the region on foot or by bike, to fully enjoy Chalosse and Landes in a different way.
An approach that evolves over time
Since 2010, the European Ecolabel has guided our way of working. This approach is not static. It evolves with our choices, our improvements, and our commitment to continue preserving the place where we have chosen to live and welcome our guests.
At La Petite Couronne, sustainability is not an added selling point for our stay. It is part of our way of being.
