La Cabane des Canards: an unusual night

in the heart of nature in the Landes region

There are places where we sleep. And there are places where we slow down.

At La Cabane des Canards , you'll wake up to birdsong, with a view of the garden and ducks swimming peacefully by the pond. A tranquil escape in the heart of the Chalosse region, just a few minutes from Hagetmau.

A cabin designed for living outdoors… and indoors

The Duck Cabin is our ecolodge, independent and surrounded by nature. It offers all the necessary comforts for a stay for two or with family, while maintaining that feeling of being somewhere else entirely.

Have breakfast on the terrace, open the doors onto the cornfield, or simply enjoy the silence. Here, everyone experiences their stay at their own pace.

An experience shared by Pau and Family

The Pau and Family Media, who shares ideas for outings and accommodations in the Southwest, came to discover La Cabane des Canards for a stay.

In their article, they describe exactly what we want our travelers to experience: a green getaway, unusual accommodation where you immediately feel like you're on vacation, and a beautiful discovery of Chalosse.

We are pleased that their experience reflects the spirit of La Petite Couronne: simplicity, nature and quality.

Discover Chalosse in a different way

From La Cabane des Canards, farmers' markets, charming villages, bike rides and the gastronomy of the Landes region are just minutes away.

Then, as evening falls, we return to the calm of the cabin, the swimming pool, the garden and the long summer evenings under the trees.

It is often this tranquility that our travelers remember the most.

Farmers' markets in the Landes region

Our favorite summer event in Chalosse

Every summer, the villages around La Petite Couronne, Ecolodge & Lofts come alive from the end of the day. The squares fill with large tables, producers set up their stalls, the brass bands start playing and the aromas of barbecues waft through the air.

Welcome to the Farmers' Markets , an unmissable tradition in the Landes and one of the best ways to discover Chalosse.

Create your dinner directly from the producers

Here, the market is not like a traditional market. Everyone prepares part of your meal.

You choose a starter from a duck or cheese producer, a main course from a farmer who grills his meat on-site, and then dessert from a pastry chef or fruit grower. Add a glass of local wine or a craft beer, and settle down at a communal table... and enjoy the mildness of a summer evening in the Landes.

Everything is local, seasonal, and prepared by the people who produce what they sell themselves. That's what makes these markets so charming, organized by the Landes Chamber of Agriculture according to a quality charter.

Farmers' markets near the Petite Couronne

Within 30 minutes of our ecolodge, several villages host these night markets during the summer.

  • Hagetmau – about 10 minutes away.
  • Amou – about 15 minutes away.
  • Poyanne – about 15 minutes away.
  • Saint-Sever – about 20 minutes away.
  • Montfort-en-Chalosse – about 25 minutes away.

The markets generally take place from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. in July and August. Each village hosts its market only one evening during the season, making it an event eagerly anticipated by both locals and visitors.

Why we recommend them to our travelers

Staying in La Petite Couronne also means discovering Chalosse in a different way.

Farmers' markets offer everything we love about our region: simple products, a warm atmosphere, opportunities to meet the producers, and cuisine that reflects the local character. It's an evening without reservations or formalities, where everyone takes the time to choose, taste, and share.

After the market, the return to La Petite Couronne takes only a few minutes. You'll find yourself back in the peaceful garden, listening to the crickets, and enjoying your private terrace to end the evening in complete tranquility.

Our advice

If you're staying with us in July or August, be sure to set aside at least one evening for a local farmers' market . Arrive a little before 7 pm to fully enjoy the atmosphere, browse at your leisure, and have dinner with the locals.

It's one of our favorite summer experiences… and often the one our travelers tell us about long after their stay.
